Breastfeeding Support Continues Once Home
Even after you and baby settle in at home, you may still have questions or concerns about breastfeeding. Call the lactation counselor at (260) 919-3373 if:
- Baby has fewer than 6 wet diapers in 24 hours (from the 4th day on)
- Baby has fewer than 3 yellow seedy stools in 24 hours (from the 4th day on)
- Your milk is in, but you don't hear gulping when baby breastfeeds
- Your nipples are painful throughout the feeding
- Baby routinely breastfeeds less than 8 times in 24 hours or you're worried baby is not getting enough (from 3-4 days on)
- Your breasts don't feel full by 4-5 days
- Baby hasn't regained birth weight by 10 days to 2 weeks (1/2 ounce per day or at least 4 ounces per week)
- You have any medication-related questions
